Who We Are
In 2009, the Uto ni Yalo was built as part of a fleet blending ancient Pacific boat-building knowledge transmitted across generations with modern materials and green technology. Since then, the Uto ni Yalo which relates into "Heart of the Spirit" has voyaged over 80,000 nautical miles equivalent to circumnavigating the earth twice, visiting countries in both the North and South hemisphere to inspire community, corporate and policy commitments for the protection of our island and ocean spaces.

Our work is inherently guided by our values of reducing reliance on fossil fuels, creating awareness and respect for traditional knowledge, reconnecting with our traditional voyaging past, encouraging a healthy and vibrant community, youth empowerment and stewardship, and sustainable sea transport.

In the face of the climate crisis, and at a time when the world is fighting for resources, the UNYT stands as an embodiment of living in harmony with nature. It is a symbol calling for greater commitment to managing our oceans, and demand for greater action from the rest of the world on climate change.
